Fairy Tail Zero is listed as having 12 episodes. 10 are the story of First Master Mavis and the formation of The Fairy Tail guild. However, episodes 11 and 12 pick up 1 year after what everyone does at the end of the following episode. And should absolutely be watched be Fairy Tail: The Final Series episode 1.
I would watch it in order, just because the episodes would be in numerical order (the site I use has Zero as a continuation of FT 2014). Or you could always watch Tartarus, and simultaneously read the manga of FT Zero!

Sure she got her share of looking like the odd one out with a misfortune here and there as she find herself into situations she personally felt she is wayyyy out of her depth…But she goes through and actually scores her fair share of victories. Yes, Lucy can fight and she’s actually good at it if she has to fight and she wins at least 1-2 fights an arc with an exception here and there. One could argue it’s her stellar spirits that does the legwork but really they’re in this fight because of her ability to summon them at times they’re most useful in.
